The Lettered J came to life in January 2017 when I was looking for a creative outlet to balance out my work life, but it really began when I first started learning cursive. My 3rd grade signature was everything I wanted it to be–curly, loopy, and a 🖤 for the dotted i, but I always felt like my capital J just wasn't as pretty as a capital A or E or M. To this day, I still haven't created my "perfect" J, but that embodies who I am as a calligraphy artist. The Lettered J has come to represent everything I love about the process of lettering. I love challenging myself to keep learning, keep evolving, and always put my heart and soul into everything I do.
I'm based in San Diego, CA, but can ship worldwide, and I'm available to travel for on-site live calligraphy or brand activation events.
I offer several signature styles of modern calligraphy and continue to learn and create more. I can calligraph on traditional mediums (paper products), and also on non-traditional products (glass, acrylic, stones, tiles, foliage, shells, etc.). I have worked on a multitude of events, including traditional wedding calligraphy, modern calligraphy for bridal or baby showers, live calligraphy for corporate events or celebrations, and custom calligraphy for commissioned gifts such as wedding vows.
Some of my favorite things to work on include wedding signage, home and store murals, live calligraphy, and wedding vows. Not sure if I offer something? Reach out and ask, I'm always up for a good challenge, and I love bringing visions to life.
Life is short, and it should be savored and celebrated. I can't wait to hear about your event and how I can help bring forth your vision through my hand lettering and modern calligraphy. Calligraphy details are like the finishing bows, ribbons, and beautiful add-ons that you lovingly adorn onto a carefully wrapped gift, and I'm so excited to help you add these finishing touches to your next event.
